Reconstitution & Storage Guide

Lyophilized peptides are stable when handled correctly and degrade quickly when they are not. This guide covers the handling steps that most affect whether a lot performs the way its certificate says it should.

What arrives

A sealed vial of lyophilized powder, labelled with compound, content and lot number. The powder may appear as a solid cake, a thin film on the vial wall, or a loose deposit. All three are normal and none of them indicate a problem with the material.

Before you open it

Let the vial reach room temperature before breaking the seal. Opening a cold vial draws in humid air that condenses on the powder, and moisture is the fastest route to degradation.

Reconstitution

Introduce reconstitution water slowly, directing it down the inner wall of the vial rather than onto the powder itself. A direct stream onto lyophilized material can damage it. Let the powder dissolve on its own; swirl gently if needed. Do not shake or vortex.

The volume you add sets your working concentration, so record it against the lot number at the time rather than reconstructing it later.

Storage after reconstitution

Store the reconstituted vial at 2-8C, protected from light. Use within the window noted on the product page, typically 30 days. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles degrade peptides in solution; aliquot first if you need long-term storage.

Storage of unopened vials

Keep sealed vials at -20C, away from light and moisture. At that temperature most lyophilized peptides remain stable well beyond a year. Short periods at room temperature during shipping are expected and are not a problem.

Signs of a problem

Cloudiness or visible particulate in a solution that was clear, a marked colour change, or a compromised seal. If you see any of these, stop and contact us with the lot number.
