Reconstitution water is sterile water containing 0.9 percent benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The preservative is what allows a vial to be entered more than once without the contents spoiling, which is why it is the standard solvent for reconstituting a lyophilized peptide that will be drawn from repeatedly.
Plain sterile water has no preservative and is single use. Once a vial of it is opened it should not be returned to.
